This year's Festival of Fire with its theme of "the Dream" will take place from 1 to 15 September on the island of Stromboli.
Performances from international artists involving dance, circus, juggling and music intertwine to create great emotional impact. Staging a synthesis of different disciplines and cultural traditions, with weapons borrowed from martial arts to dominate an element that has long held fascination for man.
The location - a small volcanic island - only adds to the experience of the Fire Festival, the artists interact with the public, there is a stage to share fire dancers and spectators and the atmosphere of sharing contributes to the intensity of the festival. The same sharing also allows artists who work far apart to work together to create evocative improvisations and new collaborations.
In the second week, the performances will be accompanied by workshops, who will now have the opportunity to study with artists of great experience.
The performances are made more special by the unique scenery designed by Nicholas Lealand and phantasmagoric costumes Engineers of Desire.
The Fire Festival of Stromboli wants to be a cultural enrichment to the island, another chance to see it in a less busy period in order to grasp the inherent sensuality that artists know that fire can beautifully evoke and celebrate.
