Hello Jugglingedge community
On the mercy of the great emperor of juggling, Orinoco, I've finally achieved my dream of becoming part of an online juggling community!
I just started juggling a couple of days ago, as I found some small rice sacks at my mothers house. I then looked up a tutorial on juggling on youtube (found one with the juggling champion of Holland), and every day since, I've been breaking my catch record. I've become completely addicted by juggling, and the feeling of victory when I get a long catch-streak makes me want to keep going. Earlier today I decided to juggle for half an hour, but ended up spending 2 hours since I kept breaking my record. I am currently on 38 catches with 3 balls/rice sacks.
My current long-term goal is 25 catches with 5 balls, and my short-term goals are buying some juggling balls and achieving 50 catches with 3 balls.
I look forward to getting better, asking you all for good advice and most of all have fun juggling within this community :-)
Hi qwethm987,
you'll get longer runs with real juggling balls!
"ask for good advice" .. and vice versa: you're good at rice sacks! ;o])
I must admit that I've "ballified" my rice sacks, since I found them too loose to properly control. I've put on 2 rubber bands on each rice sack, making them much firmer and a lot easier to control ;-) But I really do need to buy some balls, since the rubber bands quickly get loose and need adjustment.
Whilst I don't question the joys and benefits of a nice set of juggling balls (or beanbags, or something in between), you'll notice that for learning 3 balls, they are probably nicer more than easier.
However, for 5 balls, for example, or for tricks with 3 or 4 balls, then they'll make possible what didn't feel possible before.
Congrats on learning to juggle. From 38 to 50 might be very fast - for some people that sort of difference can come already with a different breathing or counting technique.
With 38, the hard part of learning 3 is behind you. Good luck solidifying it and learning new tricks (as I'm sure others will start to suggest soon) :)
I will look forward to getting my hands on some balls then. Especially because my 3 rice sacks are 3 different sizes, so it will hopefully become a lot easier with balls. And you were right, today during practice i ended up with 87 catches in a row :-)
Welcome aboard, glad to have you with us.
Well done on learning to juggle & great to hear you are enjoying it. As others have mentioned I think that your short term goal will be very short term indeed if you haven't broken that barrier already. If you want to surprise yourself with how quickly you will progress you should try keeping track using the practice log or records sections.
Thank you very much. And you are right, I already have to make new short-term goals, since I've been breaking my own record several times today. Oh, and by the way, I never got to answer your question in my e-mail; Any chocolate is good chocolate, but for my house-building-project I'll probably use dark or milk, since it will be build in a cold, snowy landscape, and I don't want it to be too hard to find. If I build it with white chocolate, I'll never get any visitors ;-)

Welcome! Good luck with your juggling, and I really enjoy your writing style.
Thank you very much, sir. Luckily I really enjoy writing, so this probably wont be my last text!

Hi. I don't think that there's a way to send you a private message or find your contact info. I edit ejuggle (http://ezine.juggle.org/) and was wondering if you'd be interested in writing a newbie perspective on your experience? You can contact me at scott at juggler dot net.
